10 DAY EXPLORATORY HIKING ADVENTURE
DAY 01: MAUMERE
Arrive at Frans Seda airport of Maumere. Transfer to Waiara beach resort for accommodation at Sao Wisata or Sea World Club. Swimming and relaxing at the hotel’s black sand beach.
DAY 02: MAUMERE – MONI
Drive to Watublapi for village excursion where you will be welcome with traditional reception then followed by the performance of dance, music and folk songs. Continue driving to Moni with en route stops for relaxing short walks, snap shots and coffee break at a simple café in Paga Beach. Stay overnight at Moni Kelimutu Eco-Lodge—a chic mountain lodge with fabulous surroundings. An afternoon walks in the vicinity of the lodge is excellent.
DAY 03: MONI – BAJAWA
Have an early excursion to Kelimutu. Enjoy a mild trek up to the top the extinct volcano. It is such an exquisite little piece of nature where beauty and tranquility co-exist. When more and more sun rays shine on the craters the placid colored lakes become more and more surrealistic. Mountain breeze and sounds produced by green casuarinas are truly entertaining.
Walk back to the parking lot then drive back to your hotel for breakfast. Drive to Ende, enjoying the scenic rugged landscape en route. Lunch served at local restaurant in Ende. Continue driving to Bajawa with stops at Penggajawa blue gravel beach and Wogo traditional village. Stay overnight at Happy Happy hotel or Silverin.
DAY 04: BAJAWA
Visit Bena, a traditional village located on the foot of Inerie volcano. Traditional house complex, impressive stone formations and ancestral shrines are things to see here. In the background just a stone throw is an extinct volcano with beautiful cone stands majestically. Take a mild trek along the flat slope of the volcano down to Tololela village. Return drive to Bajawa.
DAY 05: BAJAWA – RUTENG – DINTOR
Drive westward to Ruteng. Stop for a while in Aimere to observe how locals produce “arak” from the sap of palm tree. Lunch served at local restaurant in Ruteng. Drive to Dintor—a village functions as starting point of trekking to Waerebo . Stay overnight at and have dinner at villagers’ house.
DAY 06: DINTOR – WAEREBO
Take a 3.5 hour or so hiking down to Waerebo—an old Manggaraian village sits on lush and green valley and is surrounded by mountain. You walk through the path under the dense rain forest of rich vegetation. People of Waerebo live in niang—the circular cone-shaped houses. There is a ceremonial house as communal building of eight families who are descended from common ancestor, and it is also a store place of scared heirloom drums and gongs. Stay overnight and meals served at the village.
DAY 07: WAEREBO – DINTOR – LABUANBAJO
As the rendezvous is over you must be leaving Waerebo and back to modern life in Labuanbajo. Get on board your air-conditioned car and drive to western tip of Flores Island. Stay overnight at Puri Sari or Bajo Komodo Eco-Lodge.
DAY 08: LABUANBAJO – KOMODO – RINCA
Now embark on your private boat for 2 day Komodo Islands cruise. After the trekking on Komodo island and before crossing to Rinca you will have the opportunity for swimming and snorkeling at Pantai Merah—pink beach, good coral and rich fish. Stay overnight and meals served on board.
DAY 09: RINCA – LABUANBAJO
Trekking in Rinca to encounter with wild boar, buffalo and the icon New 7Wonders—the Varanus komodoensis. Cross to Bidadari or Pungu Island for swimming and relaxation. Breakfast and lunch served on board. Cross back to Labuanbajo, then transfer to your hotel.
DAY 10: LABUANBAJO – OUT
Transfer to Komodo airport of Labuanbajo for your onward flight to next destination.
